New friends, an amazing view, cold beers, warm mash, and some funny Irish boys, now that's a good night in Ireland. I have only been here two days and I have already made some friends and had my first adventure.
Last night was amazing and Charlie's cabin was by far the coolest house I have ever been to. I am officially sold on Ireland (didn't take me too long). We went out to Bantry with some of the people from school to stay the night at a beach house. We all rode the bus out and got there just in time to start drinking and playing games. Ireland is so small that we didn't even have to tell the cab driver the address, we just asked him to take us to Chuck Daly's house and he took us directly there. Pretty surreal that a family who lives in Ireland half the year and US the other half is still known by the entire town. Charlie informed us all that Chuck Daly, his dad, worked for JFK and photos of Chuck and JFK brought some good laughs in the house. I am the newbie with the group because most of the kids have been here since August 15th for the early start program, but I still had a great time and everyone was super friendly. We all stayed up drinking, laughing, and hanging by the fire until wee hours of the night. The Irish guys provided us with some good laughs and a few lessons in what to say and what not to say in Ireland. If you say you went drinking with some kids from school in Ireland, you are basically saying you went drinking with 10 year olds in your 4th grade class. Note to self, I went drinking with people from my lecture. The night was really fun and a great way to start off my trip. Mostly the Irish boys brought us some good fun. I am not the slightest bit worried that I will find an Irish boy in need of an American girl. =)
We woke up bright and early this morning to go on a little hike. When we got to the top of the hill that we were hiking we found a few cows and some great scenery. Even though it is always overcast here, I have been so distracted by the lush green hills that I barely notice the lack of sunshine. We followed the hike with a breakfast in Bantry and mostly everyone tried black pudding. For all of you, like myself 10 hours ago, who don't know what black pudding is, it is the dried blood (equivalent to the scabs) of pigs. I will have you all know that I did not try black pudding and I plan to come back to the states without ever trying it. Other than the black pudding, breakfast was good and I was happy as can be to have a crepe. We had a really fun time in Bantry and I am looking forward to more trips to the Daly beach house.

Funny little fact about Ireland, the stores all close really early here. We can't go shopping for anything, but beer, past about 5 or 6pm. No glue stick for me tonight. I also found a store that sells Mac products, so I am crossing my fingers and toes that they can help me with the exploded charger. I have also finally met my official roommate and my good luck with randomly assigned roommates continues. ;) More to come....
Xo
So surprised to hear that your luck with randomly assigned roomates has followed you overseas. I'll bring peanuts for the floor in December!
